Village Reading Coaches
Why
Pushed by the COVID-19 lockdown of schools far from Education children have no means but to only engage with household work, child labour and long hours of confinement at home. Children do not have access smartphones, internet and enough electricity connection in Manipur.
Solution
Passionate educated youths from the villages have been the education providers to the children door to door. They are the Village Reading Coaches. They have so far given one-to-one learning support to more than 3700 children during COVID in 2021 alone.
Outcome
We have 31 Village Reading Coaches spread across seven districts. They are trained in the areas of Education, technical skills like data entry through mobile, basic field research aptitudes and professional skills. Now they feel confident to work full time in any organisation. They wish to become a change agent in their villages.
